SETTING THE WHEELS IN MOTION

What is our mission?

Our mission takes us on a remarkable journey – a bikepacking field trip across Europe that spans thousands of kilometers and encompasses diverse landscapes and cultures. As a mother-daughter duo, we’re not just embarking on an adventure and sharing our life on the trail; we’re on a mission to

  1. understanding the intricacies of the environmental crisis
  2. discovering inspiring solutions
  3. and investigating root causes.

In a world where cautionary voices might be linked to party poopers, there’s an undeniable truth we can’t ignore: Our planet stands at a crossroads, besieged by unprecedented environmental challenges that beg for immediate attention. Familiar words, you might say? Undoubtedly. But let’s delve deeper into this urgency – a degree of urgency that exceeds the boundaries of casual awareness.

Imagine the day when the reassuring phrase, “There’s still hope, there’s still things we can do,” becomes a rarity, fading away swiftly. I’m all in for the rallying cries of optimism, but let’s face the reality – hope requires action. It’s not a passive bystander; it’s a response to our deeds. Some might interpret it as a free pass to inaction, the belief that if hope still lingers, then surely someone else will take the reins of repair. But that’s a dangerous assumption. It’s up to us, every single one of us, to seize the responsibility and drive change.

Hope isn't a mere bystander; it thrives through our collective actions.

However, the window of opportunity is narrowing, and with each passing moment, the stakes grow higher. The time to act is now, before the threads of hope that weave our future together become too frayed to hold.

THE POWER OF EXPLORING, CONNECTION & COLLABORATION

How do we accomplish our mission?

We are connecting with individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds, rubbing shoulders with experts, and soaking in every bit of understanding we can find. We want to share their stories and amplifying their voices. It’s not just about the problems – it’s about the bigger picture. We’re on a personal quest to unravel the threads that tie ecosystems, societies, and economies together. Uncharted territory? You bet.

By sharing stories of resilience, innovation, and determination, we aim to foster a sense of agency and empowerment. We want to show that every person has the potential to contribute to a brighter future.

CHANGE IS POSSIBLE

Why are we doing it?

At the core of our journey lies a simple truth – we’re doing it to safeguard the world we call home. I mean, where else would you want to go? And even if mars was a prospect, we love our planet earth and we’re driven by the conviction that a livable future isn’t just a luxury; it’s a right that every living being deserves. As inhabitants of this planet, we’re tasked with preserving its beauty, ensuring its sustainability, and fostering a global community that thrives on equity and compassion.

Our quest isn’t solely about the present; it’s about laying the groundwork for the generations to come. We envision a future where clean air, pristine waters, and thriving ecosystems aren’t just distant memories, but living realities. The desire for a fair world, an equitable distribution of resources, and an environment that can sustain life for generations remains at the heart of our endeavor.

We’re not just cycling for ourselves; we’re pedaling for the future. Every kilometer we cover and every story we share serves as a testament to our commitment to create a world that’s not just habitable, but thriving, for the generations yet to come.

We're guided by the understanding that change is possible, but it requires a collective effort that goes beyond words and intentions.

HUMAN-POWERED STRENGTH

Why on bikes?

Obviously, taking the bike is an incredibly eco-friendly option. But this by far isn’t the only reason why we chose it. Embarking on a bikepacking adventure is a lot like confronting the climate crisis. It’s all about stepping out of our comfort zones, embracing the unknown, and building the resilience to navigate uncharted territories.

We have never done anything like this before! Just like gearing up the bikes and pedaling into the distance, the climate crisis can feel like an intimidating journey into the unknown. It’s vast, complex, and at times, downright scary. But we want to remind you, it’s not about having all the answers from the start; it’s about the willingness to learn, adapt, and evolve. Both journeys require us to develop new skills, problem-solving abilities, and a hearty dose of adaptability. Sounds like skills that come in handy in the environmental crisis as well, don’t you think?

The prospect of traversing a whole continent under the sheer power of our own legs is a remarkable one. Each rotation of the wheels echoes our commitment to a more sustainable and hopeful future. It’s a journey that’s fueled not just by muscle power, but by a shared vision and a collective will to make a difference. It’s a statement of what’s possible when we harness our potential for positive change. The kilometers we cover become a testament to the impact of human determination, highlighting the harmony that can exist between our own capabilities and the environment we seek to protect.

Whether we're pedaling through the unknown landscapes or delving into the complexities of climate change, one thing remains constant - the journey is worth it.

Both paths require us to stretch beyond what we know, to be open to growth, and to join hands with others.  So let’s take a Giant Leap, one pedal stroke at a time, and tackle these uncharted territories together.
